Something for the Weekend #93

I'm starting the weekend early my dears and for the weekend that's in it anyone in London this weekend should head to Camden Barfly this Friday 16th and/or to The Old Blue Last Sunday 18th  to check out two of my favourite Irish bands: The Dead School and Tieranniesaur.

Have a great weekend and be sure to check out my other blog The Hostess Handbook,

I Covet #2

Love or hate her music there isn't much to question when it comes to her style. That bad ass Nancy Sinatra, nasty moll look is a refreshing and welcomed interpretation of all the is retro and fashion nostalgic. I can't help but cover those tumbling locks, pouting nude lips, hard-knock stare and mid-century modernism. Hers is a look that stands as a balance of contradictions; kooky yet sophisticated, prim yet provocative, iconic yet fresh. Thankfully Penneys is here to help try this look myself.

Penneys/Primark.
Think downtown Lolita housewife that is both sugar and spice.

The Way You Make Me

The way you make me curve my back whenever we're in the sack.
The way you make me curl my toes when we're mid throes.
The way you make me bite my lips when you fingers trace my hips.

Style Crush #74

Ruby Aldridge.
Model

Personal Style.
This lady redefines the 'off duty' model look as her bohemian-grunge styling is always layered and always slightly askew. Each outfit stands almost as a mood board filled with texture, colour and pattern balanced with a bag or hat. She isn't afraid to play with proportions. There's a grunge appeal with loose fitting clothes and undone hair. This is quirky, off-beat chic at its best.

Previous crushes include; Rose Byrne, Jen Brill, Lindsey Wixon

Peter Doherty x The Kooples

There's something about Doherty; he wanders, he rambles, he saunters about like a forlorn hero from some long forgotten movie of the 1920s. His fashion style has a certain scruffy chic that consist mainly of vintage finds and a hat collection I shall covet. Given this there was little surprise he was cast to play 19th-century dandy character Octavian from his new film Confession Of A Child Of The Century. You can take it I'm a fan; his style, his music and his art so I can't wait for his elegantly dishevelled Dickensian styling to feature as a limited edition collection for The Kooples. I especially want to get my little hands on some of his tshirt designs (mostly the Grace/Wastelands tee pictures above). Available March 14th.

Studio Sweetheart

Images from boohoo.com's Decades collection; A Vintage Love Affair have me lusting to be a studio sweetheart. A musicians muse, a stylish siren with a beatnik heart. This is a collection of delicate detailing and soft touches to retro inspired garments that whisper;
"I want a musician. I want a moped. I want to still be laughing at 4am in the morning while you paint my portrait."

I Covet #1

The Sway leather jackets....

I have a serious weakness when it comes to Austalian designers and The Sway is no exception. You may also have noticed that I have a penchant for leather so combine these two factors and this brand was born with my temptation in mind.

After witnessing excess amounts of wasted leather cut offs due to inefficiencies in pattern-making, Australian born and Brooklyn based Belinda Pasqua created The Sway. With each piece consciously designed and made using high-quality excess leathers, (from a factory powered from advanced natural power sources) they are then hand cut into new useable pieces. Add to this that 100% of the fibers in the packaging, hang-tags and lining is recycled, you can feel good about wearing these pieces. They are masterful objects of design th=ake for examole the studded leather jacket; every panel of this amazing piece is patch worked 1.5" perfect triangles of the softest reclaimed leather and then each triangle has two silver rivet studs. The tobacco brown leather jacket is the most perfect shade I have ever seen. I covet.

The Childlike Empress

She is a beacon of light and purity, a vision of ethereal beauty and eternal enchantment. A young ruler both fair and wise. A symbol of hope for mankind and a figure of redemption of spirit.
